Today we’ll have full day open vehicle game drive in Kruger Park (0500-1500)

An early rise accompanied by tea and coffee, before setting out to explore one of Africa’s greatest game reserves on a Safari drive. The chances of seeing one or all of the famed ‘Big Five’ are excellent, and of course the smaller plains game species and our wonderful African bird-life is prolific. We spend the morning exploring the Kruger National Park, mid-afternoon we set off on a safari drive and experience the magic of the bushveld as the day starts to fade. The plains game reappear as the heat of the day dissipates and there is a flurry of activity as a multitude of birds return to their evening roosts.

 

Tonight you will enjoy the famous Shangan Boma Dinner is a local restaurant.

Immerse yourself in a wealth of culture with a night of Shangaan dance and song enthusiastically provided by children from a local AIDS orphanage, which provides shelter and education for abandoned street children.

The children’s participation ensures they are re-united with their true African heritage, thus preserving the legacy for generations to come. With each song, the local chief narrates a song or proverb from tribal legend, sharing the rich heritage and customs of the Shangaan people.

Continue cruising late this morning and relax on board as the boat cruises through the scenic Wachau Valley, with lovely storybook views of vineyards, castles, hilltop ruins and monasteries. Later, disembark in Melk for a guided tour of the historic Benedictine Abbey, considered one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Europe. The walking tour will include some of Salzburg's most historic sites including the Mirabell Palace, the Abbey, Salzburg Cathedral, and St. Peter's Cemetery. After lunch at a local restaurant, there will be time to discover Salzburg on your own before returning to the ship. If you choose to remain on board, the day is free to explore the 2500-year-old Passau. Well known for its pastel patrician houses, cafes, cobblestone lanes and riverfront promenade, Passau is a town with a mix of Roman, Italian Baroque and Gothic architecture.
